i purchased a 60 amp drill recently-it will tear your wrist off if your not carefull, i was wondering if this is the same amperage/power that goes to my sub given that my sub amp requires a 60 amp fuse?

thats what i like about thses forums....solid reliable imformation???????????? 27000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! posts between the two of you and you dont agree....lol...........

Jmac is right...

But I've never seen a low voltage power tool that has such a large current draw...I would think the manufacturer would step up the voltage to compensate (like to a 48V supply, which would drop the current demands accordingly). It makes more sense if it was a 60amp AC draw, which is still a hell of a lot @ 120VAC...big mother****in' drill for sure.

And you didn't happen to notice that we both referenced Ohm's Law...so really, we weren't disagreeing about anything //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

60 amps @ 14 volts doesn't equal 60 amps @ 14 volts ?

You missed the question.

He was relating amplifier input to amplifier output (60A fuse =/ power sub is receiving).

Amplifier efficiency, for one, is going to alter (decrease) the amount of power the sub is receiving compared to how much power the amp is drawing.

2nd, he never said what voltage the drill was.

3rd, just because the amp has a fuse of 60A, doesn't mean it is necessarily drawing 60A of current.

posted on another forum same question,

no, well acturally possibly. It depends on the voltage and current to get power. Voltage x Current(amprage) = Power (wattage). Most amplifiers are rated at 14.4 V so 14.4 x 60 = 864 Watts. So if that is the voltage rating on your drill then yes it is the the same amount of power. Otherwise adjust the math accordingly.(18 Volt drill = 1080 , 12 Volt drill = 720, 120(corded) drill = 7200, now THATS a drill , those are the four most common voltages)
