*Amp cutting out*

I installed an amp and subs in a friends car last weekend. Today he came and said his subs aren't working anymore. I looked in the trunk and everything was hooked fine.

When he turn his car off and then back on the amp turns on then if he has the volume low the subs work really poorly but as soon as he turns it up it just cuts out with NO protection light.

Could it be ground? Blown amp? Please help because it's my *** on the line due to me hooking it up.

Ok, the protection light doesnt come on, but does the power light turn off?

could be a bad connection somewhere recheck everything and make sure u wired the subs right.

Could be the ground, could be that the gain is too high, could be a malfunctioning amp...

What kind of amp are we talking about here...what kind of subs is it driving and what gauge of cabling is being used to power the amp?
