Does anyone know why my Sub amp randomly turns off while im driving. Somtiems it will come back on but most of the time if it goes off it stays off until i turn off the car and then turn it back on. I have never had this problem before until recently. Could it be a safty feature if my amp is draining my battery?

you're prolly playin it at high volumes and overheating it and maybe clipping it and it's shutting down due to that or maybe your battery is gettin drained, so just keep your volume at a moderate level if ya don't want it to cut out again

It could be termal protection due to excessive heat.

Also Check your overall impedence, and your subwoofers You could have a bad coil or something like that.

Check for loose wiring.

Anything of that sort.

do amps shut off if the battery starts to get low? i have noticed that it takes a bit of juice to start my car after jammin my system somtimes. ill defintly spend the money and buy a capacitator if that would help

JL amps arnt really know to overheat i dont think that would be the problem. im pretty sure both coils in my woofers are fine. When the amp is on the bass sounds excellent.

im not playing it any higher then i normally do and this problem just started to occur

What is your alternator like, interms of Amps?
And your battery?

If its happening while you are driving also, i don't think thats the case.
i have no idea how to even check my alternator. i may be best with just bringing it into a audio shop and having the people look at it. i have a seperate speaker amp too but i have never had any problems with that shutting off, just the sub amp. Just now when i went to turn on my car my sub amp didnt even come on until 30 seconds after the car had already started. i have no idea whats going on. i may need to look into getting a new amp but i honostly thought JL slash series should be more durable.

every once in a while i see something bad about these slash series amp. seems like they are super sensitive or something. i had the same problem with my 500/1 too. first i thought it was my sub, then my remote wire. in the end it was my ground.
