amp clipping

so im reading a thread a minute ago and someone mentions that their amp starts to clip and the sub bottoms out? well this is a very noob question but

how do i know if my amp is "clipping" and my sub "bottoming out"

then once i know that how do i fix the problem?

well bottoming out is pretty easy to spot. basically the woofer will make a clacking sound back and forth no good...

clipping is harder to spot you would really need an O-scope to find out where your amp starts to clip. clipping tends to happen when people turn there gain up to far.

 
yeah that was me i have no idea what its doing but i think its bottoming out cause it dont like my enclosure but i dont wana rule out that my amp is clipping
