amp/cap smelll!

im gonna apologize for asking all these newb questions but i have been havin problems with my system for a while and smelling kind of light burn smells, but yesterday after bumpin my subs for about 20 minutes i smelt an extremely strong gaseous smell and it was coming from either my amp/capacitor. Could running a too high amp fuse be damaging the amp and causing this smell? Its a Jl 1000.1 so i figured it wouldnt be overpowered tooeasily any suggestions wuld be helpful

1st you need to determine what is smelling.

Is the equipment brand new?

Everytime I install an amp...for about 2 minutes in the very beginning, it is a noticeable smell. Not horrible, but noticeable....goes away and never comes back.

Cap is no good..

Also, you said "Could running a too high amp fuse be damaging the amp and causing this smell?"... what size fuse are you running compared to what the amp needs?

first and foremost before you get rid of your cap......set your gains using the gain tutorial to make sure your not about to blow your subs

my cap keeps my lights from dimming and voltage from dropping below 13 volts......why does no one elses work but mine does?

how bout answer the guys quesiton instead of cap bashing all the time......

give new guys a break, until i started reading this forum i knew some knowledge on how to hook up a system but didnt know what the hell the big 3 is.....hell a couple guys i know that install (bb and cc nonethless but trusted with cars) dont really know what the hell the big 3 are.....1 guy new and he owns his own shop now but other than that.......

OP, i to have had the same issue with new amps like said above but it does go away...how old is the equip
