okay i have 4 basic car speakers wired to this amp 2 pioneer 10x4's somewere around 100 watts max and 5" sony xpliodes 140w max

the amp is 400 watt max

200 on each channel and 2 ohm stable

i have 2 4ohm speakers wired in parallel on each channel dropping them down to 2 ohm per channel and i have a 6ohm 30w sub wired in bridged tri mode

is my ghetto setup safe

and since my amp says 2 ohm stable is it stable on each channel or just in trimode?

if have to i can unhook the small sub off i just get so much bass out of it since im in a open space suburban

i had 8 speaker on this amp wired in series no problems but i threw 4 back on the head unit and since i took them off i figure i can push this small sub at least

i dont care about the sub if it blow oh well i care about the amp though

tri-mode isn't much more than a gimmick anyway, but technically, the way you have it wired is placing too low an impedance on the amp.

with your 4 speakers you already have it at its minimum rated impedance of 2 ohms stereo. The 6 ohm speaker connected to the bridged terminals is effectively placing an additional 3 ohm load in parallel on each channel meaning the amp's running at 1.2 ohms stereo.

If it's not causing you problems with thermal shutdown I guess you could say you've been lucky so far, but you're not doing the amp any favors -- that's for sure.

I'd suggest a medium sized 4 ch amp. Run your 4 speakers off the front 2 ch. and bridge the rear 2 ch to run the sub. If I hadn't already sold my US Acoustics 4085 I'd offer that to you. Something similar to that would work very well.

aight thanx yeah its not overheating if i dont take the volume too high

okay but heres how ghetto it is to keep the high frequencies out i have a circle coil (with a magnet rod in the middle) from a crossover inside an old cerwin vega box on there and thats helps keep the highs out and not to mention the sub is from a cheap audiovox 5.1 dvd system //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif]

yeah thanx imma go and find an 8ohm 15" woofer at a old thrift store and rig it up in there to bring the ohms up to par

good news im taking the 6ohm 30watt sub off and throwing on a 50watt 8ohm thsi tiem from another low end home theater system norcent (discontinued at that)

i dont know i may wire them in series and see how things go:up2somet:

mmmm norcent and audiovox in perfect HARMONy KARDON
