American Bass VFL 150.1 POWER: Want to get to the bottom of this..

So I have the VFL 150.1 coming in that I bought from etznova (great guy nothing against him or his amp) and I want to get to the bottom of EXACTLY how much power this thing does @ 1 ohm. I've reseached and read anywhere from 1500-2300@1 ohm and this is from termpro, soundpressure, splbassx, ssa, zerohurtz, ROE, ecoustics, and I even called Bob (kind guy, talked for a bit with him) from American Bass this morning and spoke with him personally. He told me verbatim, "The 150 will do 2500 @ 1 ohm at 12.5v." I then asked about the VFL 100 being a 1500 RMS amp (since I had read that too) and he said, "Yes."

I know that should be sufficient for most people to accept, but I just wanted to raise the question and see what turns up as responses. Here is cliffs from what I've found:

1. Uses the same board as SPL Dynamics 2000d

2. Quote taken from Termpro:

"The American Bass VFL 150 is rated at 1500 watts.

Actual output is right at 2000 watts (12.6 volts and at 1 ohm........now if you run it at 16 volts and your actual impedance is 1 ohm, your gonna get more, still not 4000 ) American Bass is rating all their amps at 25% less than actual output now. ( Like they should be ) "

3. Usaci rates the VFL 150.1 at 1500@1 ohm

I just want to be convinced that this amp will do what I want it to do before I sell it off and go on the hunt again.

EDIT: This is the old GOLD one...

I know someone who had a pair that ran them for a while... always told me they could do 2kw. the guy who told, I take his word over many many other people.

so you are asking about a difference of what? a few hundred watts makes no difference. you couldn't hear that kind of difference and I doubt you would notice on the meter.

So to answer your question. yes it can do alot of power. and it is stable for 1/2 ohm daily as well. it is a lil powerhouse..

Well that's great to hear, because I felt that 3-400 watts would make a huge difference, hence why I keep questioning the power. I just want to make sure I've got what I need.

From what I have read and been convinced of yes, and more depending on the voltage. A standard 14.4v alternator setup, if you have the batts and rest of electrical up to "par" you should see 2000 or more @ 1 ohm.

I'm going to find someone with a goddam o-scope and put this mystery to rest on this thread in the near future.

I had a 150.1 but it was stolen by shallowfu, but before that I had no problems with it while it was on a pair of mtx 9512-44's or a 15 mt imo you would not be disappointed.

I'd just like to say, don't believe Bob, if you called and asked if the amp did a million watts and gave you a reacharound, he'd tell you yes, it does.
I thought that too when he said 2500 @ 1 ohm. That was one number I never came across and don't believe it either.

He was also very inquisitive about how much I paid for it and what the going rate was for the old gold ones.
