Am I paying to much for an install

Nobody here knows if its a good deal or not. No, not even giant font OUCH guy. The truth is, that could be a rip off, and it could be a fair price. Not all installs are the same. For example, mounting the amp to a piece of wood as per quoted, that could be an amp screwed to raw mdf and screwed to the floor almost randomly, or it could be a custom cut mdf plate mounted vertically to display the amp, with a molded logo embossed under the hand-stretched leather. The enclosure could be a cookie-cutter single baffle box, raw wood and rough edges, mounted so the port sort of fires towards the holes in the rear parcel shelf, or it could be a double-walled custom designed 4th order bandpass with the port length factored so they mount directly to the rear parcel shelf and fire directly into the cabin, while the trunk displays a hand-leather covered custom shaped box with plexiglass to view the back-lit subs. The door speakers could simply be mounted directly where the old stock ones had been, using the stock wiring and virtually no custom work needed. Or they could be molded into the custom fiberglassed door panels, properly decoupled from the door, with extensive sound deadening used throughout.

One install type I describe is not worth $1300, the other is worth three or four times that. So, how do we tell you if this unknown install by an unknown person is worth some arbitrary amount? If the quote was ridiculously low or outrageously high, we could tell you. But for anything else in between, everyone here is just guessing.

for a Benz, I'd say that is about right, sounds like some custom work will be required.

Just to give you an idea, I am taking my Tahoe in the next week or so to a local shop for installing my gear, I got alot of gear

4-10's which he'll be building me a custom box

2 sets of 6.5" components

2 amps - custom rack for that

pioneer x910bt - he is providing dash kit, etc.

audiocontrol dqs - he'll provide tuning

Kicker kx1200.1 and 600.4 - custom amp rack

second battery wiring up

i'm providing most of the 0 gauge cable

crimestopper remote start alarm and fortin bypass module

I think thats all of it....so pretty big install from ground up.....he quoted me $780

I got a quote from a high end shop for $1400 for the same work

hope that helps you out with a general idea.....i dont think $1300 is unreasonable
