Am I getting hosed?

Hello all, I wanted to upgrade the audio in my 2000 Nissan Maxima. I was looking for a set of components and speakers for the rear door. I decided on MB Quart FSA-216 components, FKA-116 coaxials and an autotek 75.4. The problem is, my local car audio shop quoted me $300+ for the installation of these items. I think that it is too much, but besides bestbuy I think that they are the only game in town. Am I overreacting or is this a fair price to pay? Thanks in advance.

I actually have the knowledge to do it myself, just not the tools or the space.

Thats not a bad price if 300 includes both sets of speaks and labor. But all you really need to install speakers basically is a couple screwdrivers. Depending if you surface or flush mount the tweets or not.

just noticed the amp too. Reading pwned me. But thats not bad if it includes the amp and all like i said before. I doubt that though?

if you do it yourself it wont be cosltly at all.

you can lean from people on this forum what to do or not to do, just take your time 7 you can make it happen, plus dont give your money to bestbuy.

you could pay someone off of CA.com to do it for you, i'm sure they would do better job & it will cost much less.

Nah I have a pioneer deh-3900mp HU, it has 3 pre-outs. I have a pioneer amp with two kicker comp 10s already installed. They installed my sub amplifier, but they've gone up in price. The I don't think the quote was with the amp kit and included in the price.

did they explain how they planned on installin the amp? ie new wire? changing your old wire? running another 2 sets of rcas.

No they didn't. They have to add a second amp and run the appropriate wires to the doors and the stock tweeter locations in the a-pillars.

I found that it's easier to splice into your existing stock speaker wire, rather than running new wire. Makes for less work and easier to bring back to stock when your ready to sell the car.
