why not 3-- 10s directly coupled to the cabin -----so you don't waste the energy in the trunkOriginally posted by cliff4060 This isn't about SPL I'm going for total bass frequency response well into the 150hz range although I'm pretty sure that in my car I should be able to make somewhere in the high 130s running 8 10W0s. Just remember this is a compact 4dr sedan and lots of cars run 3 10s facing up from the spare tire well and hit plenty hard from my understanding so I figure why not 8 10s facing up?
Because the efficiency of 8 cones will still beat 2 at the same power.Originally posted by bumpin_blazer why not get 2 IDMAX subs?? they can get into high freq. range and sound great doing it, much better than any JL sub in the same size.

False. 3 good 10's can hit any range the 8 can.Originally posted by cliff4060 3 10s still will not hit the full range of bass which I plan on making.
I thought you said this wasn't an SPL thing?Originally posted by cliff4060

Not that the fz response will not be the same between each woofer but that the output at each fz will not be to a level satisfactory to me.Originally posted by JTz62

Not sure about how low the system will play but if I remember correctly I think I can make down to 25hz and hopefully go up to 150hz. Yeah I saw that were those 12s **** I thought those were 10s. still its an SUV and I have a car so that wouldn't really help me much anyway.Originally posted by DiamondAudioFan how high, low are you planning to go? i mean can't some 8 inch drivers up front fill in where some 12's or 15's cant..
I'm all for this 8 10" idea. I think it will sound plenty good.
why don't you try and contact the person who has a pictue posted, he's got a denali or something with 10-12 W0's in the back. I think he could give you some valuable insight.
How about using angled rings of MDF to face all the woofers to the rear? Like raising them to maybe a 20-30 degree angle? Would that cause stablilty problems? Also should I chamber the box?Originally posted by mr4pto You would be much better off facing all the subs down. This way the subs dont have to fight their own weight to hit.. still not as good as facing back but I havnt heard any good system with sealed subs facing up. Maybe I am wrong though cause I havent really done much with people who have trunks and not SUVs
