Am I being retarded?...Yes I think so

I have an 11 cubic foot trunk with 93 cubic feet interior. I'm going to throw a 4 cubic foot sealed box into my trunk. I am running 2 JL Monoblock 500/1 Amplifiers. Should I run 6 or 8 10W0s subwoofers? Also the reason why I'm choosing to go with 10W0s is box space and overall subsonic and low frequency response which I know large numbers of W0s can produce. Thanks for any responses.

you could save moeny and just get 2 good subs. That will perform just as good as 6-8 10wo's. other woofers can produce low freq's and subsonic freq's. If you are determined to get the WO's which is fine, I would get 8, run 4 f them at 4ohms off of each amp.

blackgeltabs has a good point about saving up and getting 2 or 3 good subs to go into that 4 cubic foot trunk of yours but if you really did want to go with 6-8 10W0s you need about .75 internal cu ft per sub, so I would use a bigger box than 4 cu ft if you want to fit that many. go with like 4.5-5.5 or so. Thats a really big, really complicated box to build as well. At any rate if you were to get them, if you get 6 get 4 ohm SVC and run them to parallel down to 1.3 ohms per amp (the amps r 1.5 stable but im sure that small of a difference wouldnt make that big of a deal plus they have the RIPS power supplies...) or if you get 8 you may want to get the 8 ohm ones and run 2 ohm loads to each amp (all subs in parallel, 4 per amp)

Ok Well the point of using those subs is not because I'm worried about hitting low and subsonic frequencies. Its to make up for the massive bass drop off in the 100-150hz range. Using only 2 of any highoutput subwoofer will still more than likely not produce the full range of bass which I am looking for with this large number of W0s. You see right now I am running my 1 88120TiDVC and previously I have purchased JLs fullrange of subwoofers in retarded combinations. I have run 4 12W0s 410W3s 212W6s 1 12W7. Overall my favorite of all of these systems was the 4 12W0s but box problem mostly with trunk volume made running the W0s keep blowing, but I have never had a system that was louder overall while still being clear, but because they kept blowing I kept moving up never thinking to simply increase the numbers of woofers rather than just keep getting better ones. Since then I have gotten much better at tuning out these amps and much better at drawing out the maximum potential of each subwoofer.

I think ur shop is trying to make you spend more money than you have to.

get 2 15" subs, in a good brand, and make as big of a box as possible. You will be more than happy. i think you could get 2 blueprint 15" subs, and those should fit your needs fine. (but not w. the 500/1 amps.) go out and get a nice big *** 2 ohm amp, and run the 2 4 ohm SVC blueprints in paralell. I think the bass of the system will be more than adequate, and so will the SQ.

This has nothing to do with a shop idea I do all my audio system work myself. The cost of any 2 good subs would still be more than 810W0s for me. The Titanium costs more than 8 of them as it is.

I already have the box design its really simple all sub will be facing straight up. If thats a bad idea let me know, but I know I can fit 8 subs this wasy,

Facing up isn't that great of an idea. my friend had 4 12" subs facing up, and they were not loud @ all. mine are muuuuuuch louder. but then again his were kenwoods, i don't know about the JL W0. I wouldn't reccomend it, unless you have lotsa dynamat to use.

I have seen 8 W0's hit 134.? on the dash in a new F-250.

EDIT = Cant remember the box:( Probably sealed. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif

You would be much better off facing all the subs down. This way the subs dont have to fight their own weight to hit.. still not as good as facing back but I havnt heard any good system with sealed subs facing up. Maybe I am wrong though cause I havent really done much with people who have trunks and not SUVs

This isn't about SPL I'm going for total bass frequency response well into the 150hz range although I'm pretty sure that in my car I should be able to make somewhere in the high 130s running 8 10W0s. Just remember this is a compact 4dr sedan and lots of cars run 3 10s facing up from the spare tire well and hit plenty hard from my understanding so I figure why not 8 10s facing up?
