aluminum in a sub box?

i dont think it will resonate,if its laminated to several inches of mdf and 3x4's.Im just wondering if it will make a difference. It should be smooth enough and i could paint it and then wax it,It will also be about 100x's cheaper then glassing it.

Glassing it would cost you merely the cost of resin. Which is like 40 bucks for an entire gallon. Im sure the cost of aluminum would exceed it, not to mention the cost of securing the aluminum and cutting it.

How much smoother is aluminum compared to mdf anyways? Its not like its a world of difference that is going to get you 5 dbs. If it makes any difference at all it will be minimal, just like resining the inside would be.

With the proper steps you can paint bare mdf and make it look magnificent //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I have the glue allready and metal dont cost me any thing:) I'd probly need over a gallon of resin.Depending on the finish it will be much smoother then mdf. Mirror finish is very smooth. What is the typical gain from smoothing the inside of a box?

Send some of that aluminum my way then //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

You could see as much as a 1-2db increase I am sure.

Highly doubtful. If its for burping than try it. I have seen weirder things gain a couple tenths on the meter but not 1 or 2 dbs.

If its for daily its not going to make it difference.

Im just looking for any thing to get me closer to 155Db //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I have made enclosures with stainess and aluminum in them...

it looks cool and all but metal just makes for a weird sounding box

regardless if it's properly attached or not..it acts like a mirror for the

sound waves
