Alternator whine and various other background noise

Hello ladies and gents. I'm new to the forum and would like to drop in and say hello.

I'm having trouble with my 2003 BMW E46. The setup is very stock. There's no external amplifier. Basic speakers, etc. I went ahead and bought a 2din E46 headunit that uses the stock harness and drops right in without any modding.

The issue that I'm having is some alternator whine and miscellaneous background noise; various chirps, squeaks and high frequency noise variations. I was having similar issues with the stock radio also. Thinking it was a ground issue, I grounded the headunit chassis to the car chassis. It seemed to reduce the interference significantly but it still exists.

Can you guys make any suggestions to rid of the interference noise completely?
