Alternator voltage regulator slipping?

My truck still has the stock alternator, I believe it's a 95 amp. I went to a local car audio place the other day (which doesn't seem to be too reputable of a business) and I asked one of the guys about one of the Stinger batteries. Anyways, we got to talking about alternators and he told me my electrical system should be running at 13.8 volts, but it's actually running 14.4v. I have done the big 3 and my battery is a large Bosch, about 1000 cranking amps or so. Is this voltage safe?

Edit - 14.4v with the engine on, and measured on the battery terminals. The guy at the shop was the one saying my regulator may be slipping.
