Alternator upgrade is the price worth it?

First of all, it's been so hard for me to find a alt for my car for a good price. Now Here's the problem I have, my stock alternator puts out 80amps at 2k rpm probably 30-40ish at idle. My sistem in my sig draws at least a good 100amps with volume at half, so I'm looking to upgrade my alternator. I have a limited budget of around $450. There is a local alternator store that say they can built an alternator for my car that puts out 140amps at around 2-3krpm 70-80amp at idle. They will be charging me $200 for this.

or

I can order an alternator from HO Alternators that puts out 175amps at 2-3k rpm and around 90 at idle. But that cost's $425.

Would it be worth it to spend the extra $225 for the 35 amps output and keep my current battery (Interstate MT-34R 700CCA, not sure on aH) or should I get the 140amps alt and also pick up a Kinetik HC1800(and it does fit under my hood //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif)?

I dont think a few extra amps is worth the $225 difference between a rebuilt alternator and buying a slightly higher amperage unit elsewhere.

You would be better off spending that $200 on a rebuld and spending an extra $100 on upgrading the big 3.

You would still be over $100 ahead.

i would use a normal alternator and put a optima yellow top or a simalar deep cycle battery in the trunk and hook the two batteries together and use the battery in the trunk to power your amp.

But wont that just give the amp no more than 12V?? An alt gives out about 14.4.

if your amp is hoooked to a battery then...its hooked to a battery no what i mean? doesn't matter if its in the back of the car or under the hood. The battery in the back will get charged off the alternator the same exact way. so whatever voltage your battery under the hood sends your amp is the voltage that your battery in the trunk will send your amp.
