Does anyone know if there's a way to rig an ipod to work with an external hard drive?

I had a crazy idea while taking a shower just now, to get an ipod adapter for my kenwood, buy myself a broken ipod with a bad battery/bad hard drive, and rig it to work with a HUGE 300 or 400 gig hard drive............

Anyone know if it would work?

the physical hookup would only require getting a notebook to ide cable adapter, and a power supply for the drive, but i want to know if there's a way to format a hard drive, or if the ipod can even access a larger drive than it came with

imagine carrying this on your pocket.

LOL

oh man, that looks shoddy

i'll give it a wait and see if a harness is ever created

i'm not gonna rely on a bunch of spliced and soldered joints rattling around in the car

either someone will make a kit, or the bigger ipods will come down in price

OR i'll find a cheap music keg on egay, but they're usually SO expensive
