you can run a small town on a 200amp Stinger Alternator. You may not need to upgrade at all. Make a quick phone call to the manufacturer of your amps and ask them what their peak current draw is. For instance, the peak current draw on a JL Slash 1000 v2 is 100amps. That would be with your gain and volume turned up and the system pounding. 100amps is a lot. That doesnt even include your amp for the mids and highs. By the time you add that in, you are going to be over 120-120 amps. The stock alternator on my Tahoe puts on 165 amps. That would leave only 45 amps to run the rest of the car including dvd navigation, onstar, all the lights etc... At that point you may have your lights dimming when you are stopped at red lights if you keep your stereo turned up. For all of these reasons I made the choice to use a Stinger Alternator rated to 200 amps. However if you read around you will see that many people do not have any problems at all using 1000 watt amps on stock honda alternators. I would start with a call to your amp manufacturers.
