i am currently workin on the car rightnow, and both the stock and EA alt are charging @ 10.6 volts ... wtf:verymad:(i tried both to see if the stock would charge @ 10.6 v too. did the same shi't as the EA)

the batterys are fully charge etc, and its getting frusttrating wtf could be causing this? blown fuses? could it be the cars regulator? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

how the hell is your car running?
could've smoked both regulators maybe?

corroded wire, loose ground/s, defective wire harness.
its running fine, oh i forgot to meantion that all gauges stop working:crap:

how do i check if my cars regulator is working?

grounds and harness are fine

should have to do something with putting the prongs of a DMM in them and having it set to voltage or ohms and if you have a Haynes manual it should be able to walk you through it.

Is this before or after you have installed the alts and found them to be not working.

Is this EA alt an external regulated alt??

From comment I dont think so. With car on take your DMM set it to dc voltage and check what voltage is at the ALT post not the battery.

Your gauges not working might be due to low voltage. Also how do you know that it is only charging at 10 volts. Seen on the dash gauge or are you at the battery with a DMM ?

well i had a mechman alt before at first for like a couple of days it was charging at over 14 volts but then all of a suddent it started charging @ 10 to 11 volts(it was external regulated) before i got the mechman alt both of this alts were working fine untill the weird charging started with the mechman alt, i proseeded to try the stock and EA alt and the same crap happened(but had to send the mechman alt back cuz it didnt fit properly) oh and gauges stop working when i had the mechman alt installed i believe they stoped working when the low voltage was takin place..

yes i check the alt post with DMM and it reads 10.5 and it reads the same at the battery:crying: when i turn off the car the battery sits at over 11 volts, but before all of this happened the battery was sitting @ 12.8

I dont think that your alt is charging at all. You mentioned that you have at least 2 different alts doing the same thing? Its somewhere in your wiring like a fuse or even a fusible link.

Something to keep in mind: It takes power to make power. Check to see if there is power going to the field windings. They need "excitement" in order for the alt to produce electricity.

Check if your car has an alternator fuse, lots of them do. If that's the case, once you added the high output alternator, the higher current could have blown the fuse.

Only thing with that is he's getting the same voltage at the ALT post so that be before the main fuse to the battery.....

Id say like Einzee said. Check make sure you have a signal going to your alt to say activated, A turn on switch.

What kindof vehicle is this. Do you have a hanes manual. You should have a few wires going to your alt even just two. One is the main alt post that goes to your bat other is a wire from your PCM Or somthin alone that line telling your alt to charge. I would test that car on or off. Key should be on though.

Id say like that other guy said.
