Give it a try. Most amps are pretty safe down to a bout 11.6-7

i might be getting a new car in 6-8 months, if i got a HO alt, would i be able to pull out the HO alt and put it in that car?

Yeah if you buy the same car......

Seriously the alt. most likely will not fit, especially if you switch car makers. I think most alternators are model specific. Sometimes they are interchangeable, but don't count on it.

you have a ford truck? Call your local parts store and tell them you need a alternator for the ambulance package, should be under 200 for a reman.

No need to upgrade batt.
