if you have an amp clamp, yes

a DC clamp, its the only way to check the amperage your alt is putting out

ahh. i see. i got an alternator off of a chevy vortec v-8 that's supposed to be 160 amps. it'll bolt right on to my vortec v-6, but i can't find any numbers at all on this alternator to look it up.
