Alpine Upgrade

Recently i have infinity fronts, alpine side speakers iw ant to upgrade, and ppi back speakers, amped up.

the headunit i use is the alpine 9835 i had it since 04 and i really think an upgrade could be made iw as looking at the nak 400, or the rf 8250 or anything else that would sound better then what i have i just care about clear music and being able to use 2 rca pairs for speakers, and 1 rca pair for subwoofer thats all i care about, and upgrade to better sq. can you guys please help me i been reading these forums for about a week now. and i cant even decide what is better so i had to register and ask for myself.

That unit is one of the best Alpine has ever made. I don't think you could get too much better than that, and I don't think it would be worth it by any means. What kind of condition is it in? edit- look in my sig, I'm looking for one right now, even though the units are over 2 years old. That proves that they're pretty decent.

Is there anything specific about the 9835 you do not like, jhall?

I'm pretty much of the "If it ain't broke then don't fix it" camp. I'm just wondering is there something in particular that your current deck isn't doing for you. That specific model is commonly held to be one of the better ones Alpine ever built and I'm thinking that you may have a hard time finding something that will really sould "better" to you by only replacing the HU.

well, nothing in paticular i just feel like there always could be an upgrade, my sub blew my 2 jl audio w3s which i need new ones lol, i have a 400 rms amp running to 4 speakers, that i want to upgrade. my PPI 6x 9s are susposed to be real good i heard i want to change my 6's there just alpines bought at circuity city, and my front 3.5 i call them my tweeters bu tthey probably arent are infinitys that sound good i guess. i just want it to sound clear. and another cool thing i like bout the xxv is that feature for the hd radio

Well, as an admitted die-hard eXcelon fanboi I would say that if you have no eventual plans of running active strictly from the HU then the XXV-01D is a nice unit without a doubt...

Ive been playing with my new 8445 from eclipse. great deck but alpine is definately more on the user friendly side of things.

yea well i had a jl audio subwoofer which is suspoedly the best sq, but is there a better brand that is not known by the average consumer. as i as going to buy a jl audio w6 or w6v2

There are several manufacturers found outside of mainstream awareness that make excellent SQ drivers.

like what, i thought ppi was garbage cause my friend sold me them for 75 telling me they were worth like 250 lol but they actually are really good. i really want to change my door speakers though. i have a saab 900 98 if that helps on to see what kind of accoustic enviorment the car is. the trunk hatch doesnt rattle either //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Well, that tells me that your sub will be placed in a Swedish acoustic enviroment.

Lol, I had a 92 9000 before I got my VW I like my saabs they just break too much.

Seriously though I would look into Diamond Audio.

yea i love the toureg and the new jetta, i used to think jettas were girly but they are now a very sweet looking car. alot of ppl in CT are really into GTIs i dont see whats so great about them.

so for SQ over jl audio i should go to diamond?

A diamond d9/tdx is a ridiculously nice sub. The d6 isnt half bad either.

A growing number of people say that SI mags are the way to go for sq...Ill be able to let you know if thats true here in a few days once fedex shows up.

if you're in the market for something on the level of the w3, i would look no further than IDv3's from image dynamics.
