Alpine Type X subwoofers

Are they any good? I bought a 12, sucker is huge, has good handling ratings, and I've always liked the sound of the type R's. I am sure somebody must like or dislike them. Let me know! BTW this will be in a SQ oriented system, pushed by about 1000 rms, in a sealed enclosure, thanks everybody!

it wont work without the dash.

there's plenty of info. They'll be perfect for your power/install/goals.

i have 1 (selling it) but it is a good sub it can get loud but it does it low.

i have had it in the recomended box and then i also doubled the recomended isze box and tuned it a little lower and that is where i got the sub to shine

P.S. the reason that i am selling it is because i have a all phoenix gold set up and it just doesnt go witht he theme of the set-up. if it was made by PG i would not hesitate to keep it.

i actually just bought it to see what it sounded like, since i was waitng for my PG RSD 12 to come in, since i didnt like the type r's too much and heard they are everything the type r isnt, whihc is pretty close, hit lower and still gets loud, but sounds a lot better then a type R.

i just did a search and got 900 results, so i'm guessing a few people as something to say about them...

but fyi they are suppose to get as loud as the r's and be cleaner

I have a single type-x in a sealed box at 1.25cuft. It sounds real nice with only 400 watts going to it. It does hit very clean but low. I'm waiting for a real amp to push it. 400 is definitely not enough, cuz the sub is a thirsty little shit.

i know two people with type-x's. both setups sound real good.

one is powered by an alpine mrd-m1005 and i know he hit 142 dB w/ music. he used the recommended box.

the other person i know just got his X and it is pretty loud. Hes got it in a ported 2.5 ft^3 and powered by a hifonics bxi2005d. loud as well. hasn't been metered yet but it rattled his headlight fixture loose

I had a type x a while back. Sounded really good and would pump out the lows like nobody's business... but like its been said.. its a thirsty little shit.

well they call for 1k rms, i have a jbl1201.1 i think itll satisfy its thirst, if not, ill have to go with something bigger.....
