alpine type x 12" vs JL w6v2 12"

What would you guys go for if they were both the same price. At the moment im leaning more towards the JL as i've heard they are slightly better from several different people. Also, ported or sealed box? Im in a new civic coupe so the sub will be in the trunk. I listen to rock music mostly.

i heard both when i was looking in the same sound booth on a 500-1 jl amp, and the jl was cleaner, but as soon as you put more power on the type x, it blew it away...louder, deeper, cleaner

so it really depends how much power you have to throw at em. the jl will be fine on about 500, while the type-x is a little more power hungry, but if you give it the power it wants, it will be better...

so i went with a 12 type-x and an alpine 1000w amp, and couldn't be happier...

Hmm... that sounds like an awesome setup. The only problem is that the 1000/1 amp is a little to expensive. I'm gettin most of my stuff off of ebay so i figure around 250 for the sub and 300 for the amp (JL 500/1)
