Alpine Type S a good match for me?

Here's the situation:

'90 F-150, standard cab.

Sealed box, 1 ft^3 per sub.

I want SQL. It doesn't have to be deafening or have absolutely amazing SQ, just a good mix of both. It will sound louder than usual because it's a single cab truck so the cab is small.

Now, I haven't heard very many setups up close. The only pair of 10's I know of around here belongs to a friend of mine. He has 2 10" RF Punch stage 2's.

How will the Type S compare, in SQ and SPL, to his setup? His is sealed and getting either 150 watts to each sub, or 75. No more than 150 per sub though. Mine will be getting 300 each. Based on our setups, which will be be better? And also, just based on the subs alone, which is best?

All opinons are welcome, but please refrain from suggesting other subs at this time. I know all the brands you guys would recommend, and I know some are better than Type S for this price range, but for now I'm just asking about the Type S. Thank you. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I think his two P2's might get louder, but im sure the Type S has the potential for superior sound quality and clarity. You probobally wont get chest-pounding bass with that setup, but im sure it will sound quite nice and add some nice low notes to your setup, especially for a starter setup.

p2's sound like shit. they might be louder than the S's dependent on install but they cant come close SQ wise

i wouldnt recommend the S for a reg cab because it (like all of alpines stuff) is pretty deep. of course, if you can make it work in your truck and have enough legroom then go right ahead, do whats comfy for you

my friend has two eD first generation O 10's in his 89 f150 and they sound great too

I know, I've definitely done research on what fits and what doesn't. The Type S have a mounting depth of about 6", and my box will be at 7" deep at the top and deeper than that at the bottom, where the sub will be mounted, so I should just have enough room.

I wasn’t impressed with the type S, the type R however I did like. But out of my price range, have you listened to the Infinity’s? My Reference series sounds better than the Alpine type S when I demo(ed) them, and it sounds even better in my truck. Good luck!

So you don't want anyone to recommend you a different sub? Why's this? If you are in the market for a new sub and you don't want to take our advice on other subs... then why don't you just go to a dealer and try to get a feel for what you like that most.

To the guy who suggested Infinity:

I would consider them, but my friend has a set of Infinity Perfects and I want to be original and go with a brand that nobody around here has.

To the guy with the Type S for sale:

I'm looking for 10's, not 12's, but thanks for the offer.

To the other guy:

The reason I'm not looking for recomendations is because I've already been given several in the past and by now I know just about every major sub company, so nothings new. Plus, this thread was made so I could get some info on the Type S, not more suggestions.

And oddly, most of the displays at the locals dealers around here don't work, so I don't have the chance to listen to a lot of subs.
