Alpine Type R's

How would 2 Alpine Type R's sound in a 4.5 cube ported box in a 1992 Honda prelude? I'd probably only be runnin them on about 1200-1500 rms for now until I get a better alternator because right now I'm on a 100 amp alt. I'm just wondering because I've been wanting some for a while now and I can get 2 brand new for like 250. Also which would be better getting 2 d4's and running them at 1Ohm or 2 d2's and running them at .5?

Also how much louder and better will it sound than 2 07 CVR's running on 1500 rms? I mean I know it will be louder and sound better but like will it play lower frequencies and play low frequencies better?

I'm referring to 12's btw.

Love the type r's. They do like big sealed enclosures, not sure about ported. Read a few articles that the newer r's come unglued, but never saw anything concrete. Can your amp go down to .5?

thats plenty of room for type Rs and that amount of power would actually be fine with an enclosure that big. It hits low frequencies pretty well, most kickers i've heard doesnt reach down to the low 30s mid 20s that well even in a custom ported unless its really oversized. Pretty sure you'll go lower and sound better overall.

Well see right now I'm running 2 07 DCVR124's in the box I'm referring to on 1500 rms at 1ohm and I know a lot of people will find it hard to believe but it gets somewhat loud and sounds alright but it doesn't play the lower bass notes to well. The box is tuned to 34 hertz but anything below like 40 herts is like cutting the volume in half. Also the box is like 4.5 or 4.6 after displacement and I can't go no bigger my prelude ain't got a bottomless pit of a trunk lol. Just figured maybe some Type R's would sound better and louder on the same rms. Only other thing I'm curious about is how much do you think the Type R's can handle. I know they are rated for 1k ea but the vc's are only .7 in bigger than the kickers and I was runnin them 350 over rated ea.

You might just want subs with more linear Xmax for lows, but type rs get decently low and loud for what it is. I had a type r on a bxi 1610d at 2 ohms and it got hot when going hard for 5 mins.

Might want to try some b-stock c2 threatcon 2s they have it for 110 shipped sometimes and from my experience with the newest gen type r vs the threatcon, the c2 sub beats it in every way possible. A lot louder, better on overall music and sounds great. A pair takes my brx2400 like nothing at 1 ohm. But they still get loud on less power too.
