Alpine Type R's, Infinity Kappa Four Amp, Stock Head Unit, Bestbuy... help.

They used ignition for amp turn-on. Your problems are why I never recommend using ignition. Either replace a new head unit and get the GMOS class II data bus adapter, or replace the LOC with a David Navone Engineering model that includes an auto turn-on. The GM amp interface you got should include a remote turn-on output.

Noise problems like yours are the result of poor installation methods.

With a stock stereo, them amp will be on as long as there ign in that truck... even when you put an aftermarket in, the amp will turn on when the HU is on, its just how remote wires work, the only way I know how to make it come on with music is if you hook up the high level inputs and your amp has a signal sensing turn on

EDIT>> Just realized Keep_Hope_Alive answered this question

Im having some problems aswell lots of noise and a popping when I turn off my truck Chevrolet avalanche. I also have the same amp(Kappa four). Im going to find a better ground for the amp and battery I have in the back and hopefully that helps. My door chimes and signal lights are loud when I up the volume on my eq. Im also running the stock HU. I think I might just buy a aftermarket Hu if it doesnt stop.
Ive had that pop before. All i needed to do was sand down my ground a little better and it was fine.

his pop is from the HU turning off while the amp is on. the amp is on because they didn't have a true turn-on, so the amp is on with ignition. sanding a ground won't fix his problem. he needs an auto turn-on LOC or a proper oem interface.

The ground is pretty awful tho. Havent had time to redo the grounds. The installer connected the grounds to the the metal part of the back seat which is directly on carpet so it is not connected to the chassis. Im hoping it does help at all. I was also told that the installer tapped into the speaker wires without bypassing the factory amp.

Sorry Op for thread jacking lol
