Alpine TYPE-R subs

HAHA, when i go deaf? okay... please dont talk about how my posts are "retarded"...your user name on here is cream puff...thats all i have to say... anyways i dont like personal attacks, but hey if you call my posts retarded then i'll have to retort...anyways, i didnt say i was trying to go for SQ did I? And anyways the visonic COMPETITION 15"'s have acceptional sound quality for such a big sub...why dont you listen to them before trashing them okay? thanks...peace

The size of the speaker has little to do with the sq.

And alpine has been making subs for quite a while now. It's not something they just started. Anyone remember the old rib coned alpines ? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

for sq i can guarantee my type r 15 would mop the floor with your 15's....even for spl 2....1 on 1 though, obviously 2 would be louder...and one of the guys at the shop where i work went to alpines training seminar and saw how they test type r's, the 15 took 2100 watts before the vc melted...that's way over the 1500 watt peak that they say...ask anyone in here they will pretty much agree that they sound awesome....

I have had two alpine r10s, they pound and sound clean in my friends 240sx, but in my regal, I had to put way more power in them and then tey sounded decent. then I deciced to go with hollywood excrusions, they sound awsome for cheap speakers, they are about 500rms, 750 max each, and I have the same power going to them as the I did the alpineswich could handle 300rms 1000max, I wounder about that bacause they seemed to be spittin at half gain but any ways, the amp I have is a visonik, 1500 watt max @ 1 ohm digital mono block. and for the inside sq, I have two alpine two channel 400watt amps pushing my eight coaxials. this system is not name brand but it sounds awsomely clean and lound.

what kind of comment is that dude? my 2 alpine amps peak at 400 x1, 175 x2 @ 4 ohms and 200 x 2 at 2 ohms.

My visonik amp is 1500watt max @ 1 ohm 750watt max @ 2 ohm and 500 watt max @ 4 ohm. this is a nise set up, all I need to do know is put my subs in a custom encloser.

Read all post before posting a reply. I do belive taylor was responding to MR_LOWRIDER on his ? about the Type-rs taking 2100watts rms or peak. See no big probs here.

my bad, but I cant believe that those alpines took 2100 watts, because I have two ten and they cant even handle my 400watt alpine amp. I had one on each amp set up to 4 ohms because each amp only bridges at 4 ohms x1 at 400watts. when I put them on my visonik amp that amp just wasted them. not all amps put out what they say

If those alpines took 2100 watts it must have sounded really distorted unless they where in a bandpass box. that would muffle out some distortion. but any ways, my bad about the 2100 watt thing. by the way, does any one have any idea when the next ameture competion is going to be in phx?

they were suspended free air in a sealed room, then given a sine wave, each time the wave would start over the power was bumped up by a 100 watts, the 15 took 2100 watts before it fried...thats unbelievable for free air....free air destroys woofers....

I don't see how you fried alpine typr r's.....

and to db crazy jim, from what i hear visonik is nothing special, they are made by the same people who make mobile authority, ma audio, and there is one other crap company in there too but i can't remember....

I jus t whent to a comp and tested this amp and it is not a crappy amp this amp is awsome it powers my alpine like mad and I switch them with infinities and it did the same. I dont think to many people know how to wire a system. nobody has ever told me that my system is crappy , all they say is that it is louder than every one elses. and cleaner.

Only if the backplate is the limiting factor in the mechanical power handling... if the coil doesn't reach backplate, the VC will stay in a good working order. In fact, free air would be the optimum way to put a large amount of power onto a woofer, more excursion promotes better VC cooling, which enhances thermal power handling...

Ever see the video floating around Termpro, of a 9515 withstanding 220v free air burps? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Originally posted by taylor I thought free air was bad for woofers that aren't designed for it. I thought they bottomed out easier with free air....
when a woofer is in a 'free air' environment, the suspension is on its own to provide support and compliance. However, if its not possible for the VC to reach the backplate, you've just got a sub stroking as far as it can, and no damage to the coil will occur. You may rip the surround, or spider, but the woofer will continue to play. The 9515 for example, still has over a half inch of clearance with the cone at its full peak retraction. So it's impossible to bottom the coil and damage it.
