Just hooked up one of these (10" version) in my bedroom to my HT for testing purposes.

These subs sound great! I must admit I was not expecting it to sound so clean but it is really impressive and more efficient than the specs may suggest. It will only get better in a car with cabin gain on your side.

The one in my room is in a sealed prefab I had lying around getting about 500wrms and its shaking my room up nicely and it blends into the rest of the system easily with very little tuning.

GLWS OP, great price. Someone should jump on this ASAP. If I didn't have my 10s, I know I sure would.

thanks alot bro! There quite impressive to me as well. And I've only heard these in a ported prefab. Deff a big jump from the previous models (in output, anyway) and really are a sweet deal at this price. I would run 4 myself if I wasn't doing my IA build.

Yea, I agree that they do seem to be a pretty big step over the previous models, though the TSPs would suggest they are pretty similar.

I think Alpine has really outdone themselves with their new sub line ups. There are a lot of 2.5" coiled forum boners out these days but you're looking at about $200 bucks each. The Type R is a "2.6" coil rated for 1000rms out of the box with an FS in the high 20s, low 30s iirc. They're not crazy deep and don't really need huge enclosures to get down....also helps that the new cones are smexy.

At the price you're asking for them, you will not beat them, period.

I would just go with a ported box tuned from 32 hz. - 35 hz.
