alpine to soundstream

I'm thinking to upgrade/downgrade from my current alpine v12 amps to soundstream rubicons. I have 2 mrv-f340 running bridged to the comps and midbasses each and an mrd-m500 running the sub. now I'm looking at rubicon 600-4 and 400-1 or 500-2. anyone think it's a bad idea?. I could really use the money I get by switching these amps.

Those soundstream amps are super nice, I like them a lot, and seem to work really well in my buddy's car. I don't think you will notice an overwhelming change from changing, so if you can save a buck, go for it.

I did a little research about the rubicon and it looks like the 500-2 is stable at 1 ohm stereo and 2 ohm bridged. is this true? I'm running a jl w6 sub, which is 3 ohm. I'm thinking to get a 500-2 instead of the 400-1 for more headroom.

you will get more power per dollar with the soundstream, and the Rubis have proved them selves time and time again, it is far from a downgrade, you will be very happy with thme, check them opn millionbuy.com

well, I decided to give it a try, I bought the 600-4 and 500-2, they'll be here in a few days. I wonder if the 500-2 have a remote bass controller, it could be really useful for the sub. and where can I find the BLT for these amps? I might gonna try it out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

the amps arrives 2 days ago but I can't install them yet since it's still raining outside //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif. hope the rain will stop today.... I just realize that the lpf in this amp only go up to 120hz and since I crossed my midbass around 200hz it'll be a problem. I guess I have to go buy an active xover now :p....turns out it's gonna cost me about the same...lol. but off course I have more power now, which is a good thing.

I went out and install the amps today. it seems like these amp won't get loud. turn up the gain up to half (1v) but still not loud enough. the sub started to distort, so I turned it back down. it doesn't sound right, my alpine with less power can get louder than that.

yeah, I wonder if these amps need a break-in period //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. I hate to return them to millionbuy, but if I can't get it loud then I have no choice.

I sent mine back . Same problem . They definatly dont put out the power of the older SS amps . I had the rub II 500.2 and it has like no power . Im guessing about 50x2 real ratings ! Definitly not 100x2 ! I think there overated . Not up to SS reputation if you ask me .
