Alpine R vs Pioneer Rev-Comp?

Alright, have narrowed it down to 2 choices. Which one do you guys like?

Front- 6.5" comp-set

Rear- 6.5" coaxials

Amp- RF P4004 50x4

If you can afford the little extra, get the PRS's. I demoed them and they sound beautiful.

Aha! I haven't had the pleasure of listening to those yet. They look very well built. I will have to track some down and listen to them. I had the Rev-Comps in my old setup, but I didn't know if I wanted them again. Possibly thinking the R's were better.

Haha, in Canada, the rev series are the yellow speakers.

This is what I was referring to though. IMHO, beside the type r comps, these absolutly destryed the R's in the low and high.

I voted for the REVs, but would also take the PRS's over the REVs

I voted Pioneer as well, PRS would be first choice and Rev second then Alpines.

I do. I got it from my buddy who just stripped his car and he gave it to me.

to me, the alpines sound like you are listening to them through a tin can. the type s is reeeeaaaaaaaaaally bad, the R is better, but still tinny and lifeless. i had a set of rev's and hated them. thank god i didn't actually pay for them, they were given to me as a tip (for replacing them with a set of boston pro's). i figured what the heck, they're free i'll see what they got. they got nothin. even after ditching the passive crossovers, and running them active (with a boston GT22 on the mids and a GT20 on the tweets) they still just didn't impress me. they got loud, but were lacking warmth and detail, especially at high volumes they got very harsh. i could only stand them for a few days and put my Z6's back in. i just think you can find better for your money.

Pioneer revs in a heartbeat!

The Type R's sound LIKE SHIT! The mid has that infamous "holding a pillow in front of it" type of sound. IMO even the type S's are better than the R's for natural sound.

Pioneer all the way.The revs are some of my favorite speakers.

I wouldn't go with the mainstream brands for highs/mids. Look more into the lower lines of the better brands, like focal and diamond(d6's). To me, they sound much better, but you may want to splurge to get something like Focal V2's(that level, doesn't have to be those speakers), as they sound very good to the price imo.
