alpine problem?

Hey guys,

I setup my alpine f 450 4 channel running to kicker ks comps the other day and right away I had issues. They were not getting loud and the amp would go into thermal protection mode after 20 minutess. I ruined my crossovers becuase they were glowing white as day, they work but the sound coming out sounds like I'm in a tunnel..

I changed the grounds, checked for volt droppage at the terminal and ohm'd the speakers which ohms to 3.7 a piece.

I got the amp from Ikesound.com... is there anything else I can check before I try and send it back to them?

oh yah... I was only giving them 14.4 volts... which according to the chart I have would be perfect for 50 watt speakers...

is that all the way down? do you have an aftermarket headunit?

pretty close about 1/4 the way up....

Its a panasonic cq-c7300 I got from a friend. I think it is a european model or a middle east model. None the less still a 2 year old panasonic.

I'm already pretty pissed I ruined a good set of speakers.

Any ideas?

is the "loudness" setting on, on your head unit? and is your treble n shit turned up all the way?

The HU doesnt have that option. Mute only.

No treble and bass are 0. SQ is on rock with 40kz turned down a bit. Comps crossed over at 150 hz...

sound like an amp problem?
