hi guys

which one of the 2 amps is a better choice for 1 type r15 sub in a seald box? can the alpine give more sq or not? can i have enough spl at 1000watts that alpine puts or should go with the 1400watts of the pa because of the sealed box? please guide me

thanks

at 2 ohms I think "actual" power would be about equal. The alpine is probably a little under-rated, and I'm all but certain the PA is over-rated.

So to me it comes down to quality vs price, which is completely up to you.

IMO - if you're spending ~$300 anyway the extra $30 or so would be worth it for Alpine quality vs. PA.

alpine i run an mrd m1005 to my 15 that i had, good amp a little underrated, mine benched at over 1100 w rms.... build quality on the alpine is greta... i would not hesitate in any regard to use the alpine.....

mrd-m1005 , thd:1% s/n:90dba2400db , thd:0.5% s/n:100db

what are your opinions? the pa has better thd and s/n ...
completely meaningless.

Generally, when specs look skewed, it's because they are. What happens a lot with the cheap brands is they take noise measurements at a point where there's minimal stress on the amp. The PA may have been measured 4 ohms at low power, where you'd expect just about any amp to put up good numbers -- while the alpine was taken at 1000w which is where noise numbers start to rise.

Regardless -- both specs for both amps are well below the point where you'd hear a difference.

However, two years from now, when the PA blows a transistor and the Alpine's going strong --- I'm pretty sure you'd hear THAT difference.

how about 1800 watts of the pa vs 1000 watts of the alpine .. i think the R15 needs more than 1000 watts , almost 1500 that the alpine can't do it . please help me ..

thanks

I 15" type R is rated at 750 rms... why would you want to throw 1500 rms at it? The Alpine will push that 15" just fine. Even if the box is sealed throwing 1500 rms at a 750 rms sub is asking for trouble. Sounds like no matter what amp you pick you are just going to clip it and blow the sub anyways.

but i'v seen in this forum many people are putting 1000 watts to r12's so can't i put 1500 watts to the r15?!

you can put as many watts as your really want on it.. just remember that going over the posted RMS you are running the danger of damaging it. I could see 1500 watts maybe in short bursts but running it like that daily i cant see it lasting very long at all. I mean the posted max wattage is 2000 and 1500 is getting pretty close to that limit. If you really want to run 1500 rms just get another 15" driver to split the power and you would be fine.

how about voltage decrease? i think if i get the alpine when the voltage decreases i'll have 850 watts only but on the pa 1400 becaomes 1200 or more that the 1200 is very good .. what are your opinions?

That Alpine is actually really efficient. At full tilt, I think it draws only like 80-90 amps, which is nothing for an amp that powerful. The quality will win over quanity almost everytime.

GO WITH THE ALPINE. YOU WONT REGRET IT.

thoes things are super reliable, and usually under-rated.
