Alpine MPRF 240 problem

ok, so I have this alpine amp and whenever I turn up my stereo past 25 or so (check signature) the amp will stop working for a second, then turn back on, then turn off, so on and so forth. I have a 4 gauge wire going to the amplifier straight from the battery with an in-line 30amp fuse. When the amp "stops working" I mean that no sound comes out, but the light on the top of the amp stays on, and the fan connected to it stays spinning. Do I need to put a capacitor on there to stop the amp from cutting out or is there something else I don't understand about this amp? Thanks for the help.

sounds like it could be going into protection. make sure your grounds are good, make sure it's well ventilated. is it birdged? use the gain tutorial to set your gains. get a dmm and see how many volts you are getting at the amp, but there is no way that amp can be ****ing your electrical system.

I'm gonna check the ground and I might even put a bigger wire on it because I it's pretty small as I remember. It's getting as much ventilation and I can get for it, I've even put a 12v fan blowing directly on the amp. It is bridged on the 3rd and 4th channels but I need to check the gain settings in the manual. I'll check the voltage for the amp too. One other thing, it only does this shut off thing when the car is running, when it is just running off the battery, it goes as loud as I want it, enough to blow my speakers.
