Hello I have a Alpine IEX W400 media Headunit

I have a plug and play iso to Retain Steering wheel controls .do I need to use the patch lead as there is know plug in hole on back of stereo unit .will it work with out it .please Help

Please share year/make/model/trim of the vehicle.

Please share the make/model number of the interface you are using.

Pictures are helpful so we see the same thing.

Yes, Alpine head units have a 3.5mm photo plug jack for the steering wheel control interface.  That is the only way to get steering wheel controls to communicate with the head unit.  Additionally, the interface connects to the vehicle wiring, but it sound like you already have a harness to allow for that.
