Alpine IVA W205 vs Alpine CDA-9887

Guys, First of all, im new here

My name is Bernardo and i live in Mexico City, and its nice to meet car audio enthusiasts like you..

I have a Honda Accord, (double Din) and I want to change the HU but...

a few weeks ago, I saw the IVA-W205, and i like it, but for some reasons i didnt buy it right away, then i look on the internet, the CDA-9887...

My Questions are..

*Wich one have more Sound Quality?

*If the CDA-9887 have more Sound Quality, is it by far?

*Wich is the best Alpine in terms of SQ, besides the F1

Facts:

I love to hear music, i really want a good SQ HU.

I like movies, but maybe not in my car, so the DVDs are not the big isue here

I have an iPod, but the 70% of the time i prefer the old CDs

i have Polk Audio speakers in the front and in the back

i have an Alpine PDX amplifier

Maybe i buy a Subwoofer enclosure in a few months

PD: those models are not in stores here, so i cant hear them, im basing my decision on the people who have hear them

 
For me its an easy pick, 9887. Its half the price, has a lot better crossover and an EQ. They both run ipods. Even without the imprint the 9887 can make your system sound better then the W205 because of the processing it has.

 
lol sup man. i'm vietmandomy52 over at v6p.net. like i said bro, you won't hear a difference. if you want true sound quality, put more emphasis on the install.

but no one had told me, that the IVA-W205 is better, and since the 9887 is a lot cheaper, and i still can buy the imprint module in the future, i think thats a better choice.

PD: What do you mean with the installation? becouse im going to do the instalation..

 
the only comparison as far as tuning features would be if you added an h701 to the w205 other wise they dont compare at all
hey dre, is there any difference between what the h701 does, and what the mra-f350 will do? (desides that the 350 has an amp attached to it...)

im trying to look and see if the h701 has any major advantages over the f350, and i cant really see anything dramatic. but for the price difference i feel like im overlooking something...

 
having the F350 is far more advantageous then having the h701, the h701 will accomplish what the F350 does but allow you to use normal amplifiers.

The F350 has everything built into it, and allows for there to be one less amplifier (center channel).

F350 is the shit!!!! I love it!!!

 
the f350 doesn't have bandpassable xovers. if you are going active the h701 is the better choice.

I don't know what basis these people are speaking of. I think it's more of pyschoacoustics more than anything.

also when i say installation i mean know where your speakers are being placed at. things like imaging and staging are very important to some people and the placement of speakers will have a huge impact on imaging and staging. also deaden your doors well to get the most midbass possible. also tuning important.

the 9887 has more tuning options itself than the w205. it has a 3 way xover and a 5 band PEQ and time correction.

 
I agree with alphakenny1. The install is the most important part. I was talking about the 9887 having better eq, 3-way crossover and time alignment to help with the install where the W205 doesn't have those things. If you run them both flat not using crossovers and time alignment then it would be hard to tell the difference. Thats why I say the 9887 should sound better for half the price of the w205 and a lot cheaper then the w205 with a h701, but that combo would be a lot better. I still use a 9835 and love it. I will be going to the 9887 when the 9835 dies, unless something better comes around.

does the alpine website confirm this anywhere? i dont see where it says whether or not either one is bandpassable.

also, the f350 has more bands of parametric eq. and im guessing on the h701 you can use either the parametric or the graphic eq, not both? their specs are pretty vague on both these units...

 
i was just looking at this, http://www.crutchfield.com/S-1svWEPmezNA/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=500MRAF350. there is no mention of lowpass filter for the front/rear/center. on the h701 each preout has a lowpass and a highpass option. trust me, i'm using the h701.

so there still is no confirmation that the f350 doesnt have bandpassable xo's. like i said, the information available is pretty slim for these units...

im starting to think that the f350 does everything the h701 does, plus amplification. unless someone can confirm otherwise for me. ill make a call and see if i can find anything else out.
