I am selling my car so I pulled the amps out and wired the speakers directly to the h/u. The head unit is an alpine 7894 from a few years ago, this is the first time I have ran it off the h/u's amp. Every time I get the volume to 20 of 35 the head unit shuts off and turns back on right away, but will shut off again if I don't get the volume down quick. Any idea's?

I've got the same model. Sounds like the internal amp is starving for power. Did you ever run a power cable from the head unit directly to the battery?
