Alpine F1

^ Rarity is the answer to all your questions, lol.

But, truthfully, the rarity of finding one of these pieces and the name (legend) behind it doesn't hurt either.

This makes me think on it a little more.
I think DIYMA presents a type of enigma.

Logically, rare/exclusive items have very little liquidity. Think about PPI Art series. The only people that really want them are people who are specifically looking for them or have excess cash laying around in case something like that pops up.

The market for Black Denons, and other 'old school SQ' and 'high end SQ' units is quite small...but yet, as you mentioned, the gear moves pretty fast; meaning the products are quite liquid.

However, in general take the Sundown SAZ-1500 (not picking on Jacob in any way here)...there are hundreds of these amps floating around, they get good reviews, and such...yet people take massive hits. Why would people be taking such hits on "general" products in which there is a stable level of demand.

Perhaps, it is supply has greater influence that demand. Typically, demand as a greater impact on the function than supply. And you can use Granger Causality to prove this....

But why does supply, in this instance, have a greater influence on price?

Sorry for the rambling, it will take a little bit of thought to wrap my head around this one, but I assume someone with experience can give me some insight into why this exists.

One could say or attribute to it being rare and expensive. Its a high end offering that even when in full swing was hard to come by and above most peoples means. Is it the 'best'? Surely not. Is it ranked fairly high up? Absolutely. Now in a domestic market and for the features it offers it takes second to none. Now we Are taking into consideration features, capabilities and availability. Take the Japan market into consideration and it is no longer cream of the crop. Still high in rankings, but can be beat (DVD audio/video aside).

With all this being said it remains even with an abundant amount of money the difficulty in getting one will remain, hence making the demand to satisfy an ego (like my own //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif).

Did I ever NEED this setup? Plain and simple - No. Did I want it? Absolutely. Why? Capabilities aside and honestly speaking - for the simple fact of a desire to own it. Hell I still have the JDM ODR sitting here, which IMO walks over the F1, but didnt gimme the extra perks .. monitor,DVD audio, accessory inputs,etc..

I think it has something to do with a person's fascination with owning something rare.....
Indeed it does. You should see my collection of amps. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Quite costly and Never used eml, but I still own them. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Makes sense. Kinda like why I want one of those older alpines that flip out into 1.5 DIN. Not because there is something special about them, but because I really wanted one when I was a teenager and couldn't afford it. I see how the "ego" props demand more than actual utility...makes it more clear, but harder to measure.

7998...I always forget.

How ironic....

Have you done any installs in the GMC Canyon?

I am considering getting a new truck in a few years and want to be sure I know what I am getting myself into and not "tricked" like the s-10 with the **** window bracket behind the speaker.

Unfortunately I have not. What I can tell you so far though with the TBSS is that the doors dont look to easy to work with no unlike your S-10. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

You can always fit the space 8s....

I really wish I would have went with those Dyns you reccomended vs. cutting up my doors....live and learn I guess.

I will say the F1 is great system. It has more flexibility that i currently need, but I like the fact that if I ever need those options I have them because I tend to change things often for no reason other than to have a change. I also went with the F1 because of the rarity of it. There probably are more budget friendly units, but i don't think there build quality will be as good.

good deal, somebody else who has the setup! so you're happy with it, would recommend it if the funds are available? Don says its Relatively user friendly... do you agree?

I also have the F1 set up and love it. It is very user freindly. I cant I find another unit that is usspec that has the flexibility that this set up has. If one has the funds I would say do it.

I love the F1 setup. I think its very easy to use. I've actually got to the point that i barely have to glance at the display when changing settings. With the software it is even easier to adjust your settings. If you have the funds available I would go for it.
