alpine deck sub boost

It will increase the voltage that your amp is putting out, so if the gain is set properly, then you will be clipping the amp, so yes it will do damage.

Where ever your gain is set, (if truely correct) that is the optimum output of your amplifier, any higher will damage both the amp and possibly the subs. If you want more bass, look into a new enclosure.

set all of your setting, then set gains.

SET IT AND FORGET IT!

sub boost = no no unless you have already set your gains on with the sub boost on prior to setting your gains //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

but he could set the bass boost thing on head unit to max of wear he would ever us it, then set gains, and then use it from headunit.

But that wouldnt make any difference because he would have the gains lower than they are now, in order to not clip the amp. With the subwoofer setting on the HU to 0, you should set your gain. If you set the gains with the setting at +10, then the gain would be lower than the previous setting, giving you the same output on the amp.
