I used to own the alpine f240... 2 of them. very musical even though the rated power wasnt very high. Nice clarity

i used to have a pdx and i kicked it with one 12" type r and i blown it...(the new ones). well the PDX are strong mines was PDX1000.1 well its expensive i sold mines for 600 to a friend...

yea, i have that amp and it rocks. only problem is, I've been using it in 4 channel mode in a 70x4 setup. I just got a set of new components, and im now bridging the amp into 200x2. My impedences are correct, but at moderately high volumes, my amp is going into protect mode. its getting really hot. it is sitting in good airspace so its not covered or anything

I cranked it up all the time in 70x4 and never had a problem, never shut it down, never blew a fuse, but now that I bridged it, it keeps going into protect mode.. connections are good, no noticiable line noise, and it will rock out at high volume for about 10 minutes (with no distortion) but after that it seems to get to hot and shuts down. gain is set at nominal (dead center at 0)

I was getting ready to start a post about it and saw this and noticed you were looking at the same amp. It sounds really good, very musical, looks nice, and is well built. I'm not throwing in the towel just yet, because I'm not a professional installer..

eh, not the best specs for a front stage amp IMO.

I was only using 2 channels and the gain was waaay down. I ruined the kicker comps I had and now I need to buy a new set of comps.

Can anyone recomend a comparable amp in the same price range/cheaper...

i dont know but ads got some real nice amp made for mids/high...i recommend those...or hifonics 4 channels...real nice..i got both hifonics/ads amps made for 4 mids/high...they are really nice
