Alpine Amp Got Hot

I installed my alpine mrv-m500 amp in my new jeep the other day with all of the same wiring except I split the audio from an mp3 player to both the stock stereo and my alpine amp. I set my gain with a 40 hz 0db test tone and all seemed well. Today I noticed the amp got very hot after 20 or so minutes of use, it also hit 90 something degrees today, but still I never had the amp get hot in my other car. The amp is sitting on carpet next to a carpeted seat fyi. Any suggestions ? Id rather not kill my Obsidian lol

Do you have access to a multimeter to check the voltage at the amp when your jeep is running and music is playing?

Yes, what should i be looking for specifically voltage wise? Just consistency with the voltage at the battery?

Consistency and above 13.5v with your vehicle running, etc.

You check are your connections are tight at the battery, fuse holder, amp yet?

And of course the amp and battery grounds...

Everything looks good, constant 13.6 volts

Could it be some problem with the heatsink of the amp?

Im not sure, it didn't get as hot today so ill just keep using it until thermal protection kicks in i guess...
