Alpine Amp and 4ga Wire Problem

I'm switching out my Pioneer amplifier in my car for a more favorable Alpine amplifier. Problem being that the 8-gauge wire doesn't seem to have a fighting chance at connecting to the amp; the wire is simply way too big. How do I fix this? Cut the wire in half down the middle so it fits? How will this affect the power it gets?

Thanks!

So you need to attach a 4ga wire into a hole made for 8ga?
If I got that right you need one of these.......

Stinger SPT822 (Gold)

Gauge Reducer, 4 Gauge Input to 8 Gauge Pin

Stinger SPT822 - Gauge Adapters - Sonic Electronix
I actually wrote it wrong in the thread title.. it's an 8ga wire into a seeming 8ga hole. But as you can see, there's no way the wire will fit.

I believe I need what's called a "terminal fork", seen here: http://www.mobilehomerepair.com/media/img/G31-955.jpg
