Alpine 9887 settings with passive xovers & sub

with the low pass filter set at 80hz flat, you're not getting any filter. there needs to be some slope. use the 6db/octave slope if you want it to be really shallow. also, you would more than likely want to adjust the high as well because that's for your front speakers. when set for front/rear/sub, the front is high, rear is mid, and sub is low. as far as graphic eq vs. parametric eq, that's completely up to you. if you feel like messing around, you can use the parametric eq. the graphic eq is a little easier to use because you only have level controls, no frequency controls. you can also be lazy and use the factory presets. they actually do a pretty decent job, especially if you're pretty new to car audio.

Thanks for the tip on the sub slope! I'm running passive and I thought in passive comps' crossover takes care of the highs, no?

that's possible. from what i understand, the crossover that comes with component speakers will only effect the crossover point between the woofer and the tweeter. some crossovers may include a high pass filter for the woofer, but that would have to be something you would have to check into for your specific speakers. for now i would recommend setting some sort of high pass filter for the highs in the hu just to protect the speakers until you figure out whether they have a high pass built in.
