Okay, first and foremost does anyone here have an Alpine 7897 installed in a Ford Mustang? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The thing that I am a little worried about with the 7897 is whether or not the phantom face will extend far enough out from the deck so as not to hit the bezel that surrounds the A/C controls and two DIN openings. Does the faceplate extend out far enough from the deck that it won't strike the surrounding stuff when the face flips up into operational mode?

Just curious.

There are 4 different settigns for the phantom face. One of them is regular, then it angles at 2 diff positions, and the other one just extends out like 2-3 inches. So if you leave it on that one, it should be good. **** I love that deck:)

Sweet. Thanks for the info. I'm going to go check one out tonight at the electronics store. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well, I went to the store last night and played around with a 7897 and measured the faceplate, etc. It looks like it would work just fine but I am not sold on the idea that this phantom face design offers the best theft deterrant. Anyone who looks at the retracted faceplate will obviously see that it's still right there - especially if they know what they are looking at.

The thing I really like about my Kenwood X859 is that I can either let the DMASK hide the faceplate or I can remove the faceplate and take it with me if I expect to be away for a longer period of time.

If I were going to switch to Alpine, I think I would hold off until the new CDA-9815 comes out. The removable standard-DIN faceplate appeals to me more than the phantom design.

Oh well!

I love the phantom face, I think it looks like a deck w/o its faceplate when fully retracted. Unless you get up close and look at it good, you can't tell that its just retracted. But oh well, I still love it:D

ya, but is a removable face plate... and i would definitely recommend removable over phantom (unless you can get both).

cause i just got mine installed this weekend in took it in to the shop 2 days ago, and if i just had a phantom i would be worried that they could steal it, but when its removable they might just think its a real crappy kind or something and they can not be for sure. for some of the phantom it is obvious what kind it is and if the robbers or whatever recognize that it is a phantom (which would cost alot) they would definitely want that one because only the nice ones have phantom...

Oh, you are recommending it, I thought you were saying you have a phantomface deck, but anyways, all three of those alpines are sweet decks. The only thing is that the 7998 and 7995 have no internal amps, but that has its positives and negatives:D

what the hell are you talking about???

i not only own a mustang, but i really like it too. i own a manual, and i think it is pretty dang fast for a 13k$ car, ive raced some bmw's and kept up with them till 60mph, then i quit (i havent gotten a ticket yet, and i dont plan to). and for my next car, im gonna buy a 32k$ SVT mustang, tnat will beat about 98% of cars on the street. (4.5 0-60) find a better production stock car than that for 32k.....

i got the 2002 model in august (mine was used with 2k miles on it) so it got marked down in price. the 2004 model is gonna kick your *** though.. they are 2seaters sweet *** body, and all come with the ford svt engine.

Mustangs ****...Daewoo all the way!!!!

Lol, j/k, but if I were to get a Stang, I'd get a 92 5.0...too many kids and little girls have the newer body style, they just kill the look, they got their cute 6-bangers that they think are fast for some odd reason. Actually, arent the newer v6's decently fast? I don't know jack shit about stangs, so oh well.

well i can tell thats a joke. daewoo probabaly sells 100cars a year. and i do not like it when little girls or women drive a mustang. and some other things that piss me off is this one time i saw a real old woman driving corvette 02 z06, and my friends mom drives a porche carerra! they dont know how to drive! and i would definitely say the newer mustangs arent slow.
