Alpine 4-channel problem/question...

I have an Alpine MRP-f240 4 channel, running 4 mbquart coax's.

Just recently I can not turn it up to a high volume, it cuts out and tries to start back up every few seconds. It will play to the same volume every time. My sub amp continues playing though.

I figured maybe a voltage drop makes the amp shut off, but I tried doing it with the sub amp off, and the same ordeal happens.

I tried running just 1 speaker at a time to see if maybe it was overloading or something.

Then, I took the ground off and put it back on, and it works fine.

It also gets really hot fairly quick.

I'm thinking it is just going, i've used it on a daily basis for about 2 years.

they are pretty much garbage amps. i have the exact same amp. it's in a box in the garage blown.

I know it's garbage, it's the cheapest part of my current system, i'm pretty much waiting for it to blow. I just wondered if anyone had any ideas why it is doing what it is doing.

No idea realy man.All i know,is when i had mine going, one day driving round,i started smelling the majic smoke and though oh%^&* stopped and checked my sub amp first everything was good there, flipped open the back seat and there was the prob,no idea why it went,it just did i guess.

or it could go like mine did. i told my buddy you got to listen to my system so we get in my car and turn the radio on and there is bass, but no music, so i thought that this seems awfully queer so i look and my amp is still lighting up but no music so i beat it with a stick and still nothing. i even cursed and yelled profanity that would make even eminem look like a gentlemen and it still didn't work.

My buddy had one, he had resolder some stuff back on the circuit board after it started to fall apart.
