Are new amps junk?

I think everybody wants cheap power, and that takes sacrifices. Companies build to the market. I think alot of people couldn't tell the difference in alot of amps as well, cars are noisy, and for those that don't deaden and just want loud the need for insanely clean specs just isn't needed. Also underrated amps...big deal. So a 50w rated amp does 400. Why does that make it better than a 500w amp that does 480?
I do agree that oldschool was definately more quality and more American pride in the product...but the current caraudio market doesn't seem to support that level of quality anymore. Add on that every industry is offshoring, and we are just bound to get some budget built products. Just be happy they don't have lead paint on them like your kids toys do.

I'd hope zeds new stuff isn't junk though...not really that expensive either.

yea i say old school amps are better built and would take a vlx400 over a 3000w anything of today. new amps look more attractive. there are some brands that are good but they arent as easy to get as the "junk". the newer good equipment is still pricey and i would personally take a good old school for the fact that you can find great deals on them, and i think they were built with pride and better components.

i do agree on kids looking at numbers. some would probably take a 800w power acoutic over an os audio art, linear power etc etc. some you have to physically hook up a os amp in their rides to show them the difference.

yea it is sad and frustrating what has happened to the industry. i was actually looking to compete but i cant seem to find the class i wanted to run in. lol. the 100w class. please correct me if im wrong....and i actually really hope i am wrong... looks to be 1-600 now. im like ru serious???? ruined my plans lol. i even had the amps bought and everything. two crossfire 15hc for subs and punch 40 for highs. well whatever. still going to build it this summer.

well have fun and bang yo sheeeeit everyone.

The old brands are now just names...bought out by large corporations that don't care about quality, they just wanted to badge their products with a name that HAD a good product.
precisely, too many good companies heading down that path and the noobx think they sux without knowing wat those companies used to be

do you have a specific budget? what are you looking to power?
I need 100-150 RMS to 4 channels. Either in 1 or 2 amps. Rated or cheated, I dont care. I would like it as cheap as possible. $400 tops for now.

Im looking for low thd, high SN/R, high DN, high dampening, and lots of separation.

I have spent 8 grand on my car in the last 3 1/2 months, and it has been so worth it. If I have to spend more, I will have to recover from Christmas and ante up.

I can list at least 5-10 companies I would buy from and I only prefer SQ oriented products. There are companies out there, you just have to pay to play like everyone is saying.

-Audison*

-Hertz*

-Genesis

-Arc*

-DLS

-Rainbow*

-Brax

*I have owned 3 of them and have heard Arc Audio amps personally on numerous occassions so I am not just pulling it out of my ***.

edit: I hope you wanted to spend 400 PER and not 400 total...
