All around help...

Hey guys, I'm new to car audio and need some advice on about everything. I drive a 1999 s10. the sub that i'm getting is an Fi Q 12. I dont know whether to get the D1 or D2. I want sound quality and a lot off bass too. My Head unit is a Pioneer Premier 4900ib. I also need an amp suggestion. $300-$350 for the amp. I dont know what kind of wires I'll need either. And finaly, I dont know if i'll need a new alternator or if I'll need a cap.

Whew, That's a loaded thread. Umm maybe you guys could do like one section at a time or something.

Getting a D1 or a D2 Q is going to be based on what amp you decide to buy. I will determine what ohm load will get the most out of the amp without feeding too much for you sub.

For example,

Orion 2500d

1200w at 4ohm

1700w at 2ohm

2500w at 1 ohm

If you went with this amp, I would use the D2 and wire the coils in series to get a 4 ohm load since your powering just one sub and that 1200w would be plenty for it.

anything putting out around 1000w to 1200w should be fine, and the Q will give you both (lot of bass and def sound quality) but its going to also depend on what box that you put it in.

Thanks but i think that amp might be too much power. I was thinking of running at one ohm. maybe a cadence TXA-1000D?

No problem, I had just used the Orion as a example. Im not sure about the Cadence, because I personally have not had any experence with it.
