Agree or Disagree With This Theory

actualy after looking over the past events u may be better off in street c, seems to be mid 140s wins it. IF money is not an object (write it off as a sponsored car/business expense) run 8 amps and 2 15s. With the increase of power u wouldnt need a very big box ~2cubes each with lots of port area //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Street B in Ohio is in the 150s...

Street C is in the 145-148s
Would this theory be why the numbers are this way?

I love it when people cram 4 15's in the trunk and wonder why its not loud... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
in my experiences... 1 12 is the ticket in a trunk... but I dunno anything

Of course you don't know anything...tell us something we don't know already //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

um ......i notice that no one has mentioned air displacement......clearly 2 12's will be louder than some 15's.....the reason i say some, becuz if u have 2 12's with very little xmax and one 15 with a decent amount...the 15 will be louder...but if u have 2 12's with alot of stroke and one 15 with alot of stroke..the 12's will be louder. why?....becuz the 2 12's cone area is bigger than one 15 ....and if the 2 12's and the one 15 all have the same stroke of lets say 24mm.....yeah the 12's will be louder

If I were in your position, I would just get another 12" CVR and call it a day. You wont even have to upgrade amps
I probably will next summer, but I was just confused as to what Spkrman was saying. He may have been referring to a score on the TL (which you all say changes everything completely from just normal listening) but he seemed to be fighting for both situations.

key word to the post every one is questioning is trunk. if you read the rest of spkrman's post he tells you why and for the vast majority of the time what he said holds true. talking strictlly spl (bass fartin) and not talking sq. too many drivers and not enough correctly used space=low db score.

i figured what he was talking about is what other hinted upon, is bass needs room to breath, if u cram a big a$$ box in ur trunk, your bass doesnt have room to expand and get louder(doesnt it need like 8 feet of room) where as if u just use a single 12 it has plenty of air to reach its max sound. and i personally find 15's in trunks work if u have a big trunk

no need to flame if im wrong, just correct me

depends what you are looking at as far as desired performance from the daily driver set up. me i would go sealed with ablout anythind as smallish as i could to get the desired effect but im not everybody. some people like it loud and slamming 24-7 in that case yes this "therory" holds true. also depends on how you break it down but reguardless..

If your rear firing, yes... building a box that takes up less than 60% of your width WILL be louder. Try it.
Refer to the first posts.
You personally would be good to purchase another 12 and double your current

power.
there are plenty of ways to skin a cat this might be the simpliest but doesnt mean it will yeild the best result though either and that STILL is dependant on a few factors. i have seen cars add woofers and get worse results or lack luster (less than what they would have thought and i have seen people simply change the box for the single driver but thats also dependant on what you are going after. change the one driver change the box change the amp...its all with how far you want to take it. personally i think the guy who started this post can answer that for himself. i just dont think he fully understood where spkrman was coming from. the best results arent always the easiest unless everything else before hand was thought out.

In my experiences in a trunk setup is to have the subs and port face into the cabin 1) either sealing of the trunk around the enclosure or 2)move the enclosure all the way back. Most of the loudest trunk cars have multiple woofers but also have lots of wattage. Example-->Mike Steirs/David Dasilva:)

I love this statement by http://www.audioque.com "The key to a loud system is to make the most out of the available space. Larger diameter subs squeezed into a small box volume will not be as loud or deep as a smaller diameter sub in the ideal volume."
