Agree or Disagree With This Theory

In my experiences in a trunk setup is to have the subs and port face into the cabin 1) either sealing of the trunk around the enclosure or 2)move the enclosure all the way back. Most of the loudest trunk cars have multiple woofers but also have lots of wattage. Example-->Mike Steirs/David Dasilva:)
I've tried both ways and facing the cabin and sealing off the trunk is the ONLY way;)

I've found it's louder, and I've been able to completely eliminate that **** ghetto azz rattling license plate //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif The bass also seems to hit harder and is cleaner. (less rattle to add to the bass) It took about 2 pounds of poly fill (around the box) and sound deadening material but IT WORKS WONDERS //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Im just retarded but how exactly would i seal off the trunk after I turn the box around to face the front of the car... also does it matter that it would have to go through my seats?

I tried sealing it off and lost 2 db's gain the most by moving all the back, must be vehicle dependant;)

seats dont fold down:( thats hard to get sound into the cabin unless you cut through your rear deck and if you do that have the port facing the holes

Maybe, but you would think it would gain regardless My box was not hard to seal off from the trunk because there was only 1/2 inch gap along the sides and top.

I also cut out the rear seat armrest area as well. My seat does fold down but who wants to drive around with there seat down //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif this way I just pull the arm rest down and thats it... being a b/p box helps also //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

try it, its all vehicle dependent, one my friends took his car to the customs shop and had all his foam removed from his back seats and they replaced it with some kind of foam that will allow sound to go threw;)

If you're going to base his knowledge on that, did he provide proof of the numbers claimed?
I'm not doubting at all, just saying if you wish to base trust on some DB score make sure it's a proven score.
yes he did....

THAT sounds schweeeet //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif wonder what type of material that was

i figured what he was talking about is what other hinted upon, is bass needs room to breath, if u cram a big a$$ box in ur trunk, your bass doesnt have room to expand and get louder(doesnt it need like 8 feet of room) where as if u just use a single 12 it has plenty of air to reach its max sound. and i personally find 15's in trunks work if u have a big trunk
no need to flame if im wrong, just correct me
That what I was thinking... like when I was in a few truck with crazy systems they were much louder with the windows down instead of up.

I love it when people cram 4 15's in the trunk and wonder why its not loud... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
in my experiences... 1 12 is the ticket in a trunk... but I dunno anything

i need to find out where this theory comes from. if the car is big enough you can create a standing wave which can give a pressure maximum in a spot. this increases SPL. from a physics standpoint though, the SPL will be maximized in the smallest volume. i guess it comes down to if the localized SPL boost due to standing waves can overcome the overall boost in SPL due to low volume.

as for windows, well, they are similar to a port -- air can come in and go out, allowing for more pressure to build up. at some frequencies the air will easily move in and out, allowing for a boost in SPL.

i hate MS windows so much. WTF is my HDD light blinking for. AHHHHHH!!!! POS. ima reboot now.
