Aftermarket Head Unit To Amp

So I have a two channel 1100 amp specifically CRUNCH P1100.2 1100W 2-Channel Amplifier that I bought from frys. I have an after market head unit I bought from best buy specifically CDX-GT350MP and I have two 10" kickers hooked up to the amp.

I know for a fact the amp is wired correctly because it turns on with the car and I have checked it with a volt meter to test the ground/12v.

I know for a fact that both speakers work because I connected both of them to a 9v battery and they responded.

Get this, I even unplugged the RCA cable I had coming from the head unit and plugged in my ipod directly into the amp like so http://www.ssis.be/images/type/CABLE+RCA.jpg and was able to get the speakers to respond through the amp and RCA plugs on the amp.

But when I go to try and get the amp/speakers to respond the the RCA cable I have hooked up through the back of the after market head unit I hear nothing coming out the kickers.

Am I doing something wrong? Maybe there are some settings I need to change on the amp or head unit.

Though I'm pretty sure I have the head unit set to "Sub out"

Could it be the frequency filters on the amp itself?

The is sub is on 0db and is set to sub out on the head unit though, to my knowledge. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Ok so today I called SONY and after talking to the person for long enough she told me that my head unit's RCA jacks were bad and that I needed to send it into SONY to be repaired, fortunately I was able to just go to best buy (where I bought it) and it exchange it for a brand new one.

I put the new one in, SAME PROBLEM... so it's not a problem with the head unit (unless its a setting??) and I ran a multitude of tests on the RCA cables and such and they seem to work fine, but I am still unable to get a signal from the head unit... I tried to see if I plugged in a normal speakers to the head unit to get a response and still nothing.

Tomorrow I'm going to try contacting the manufacturer of the amp Crunch during their business hours to see if I can get it to work.

I agree that your sub setting is off.

Specifically for this unit, with the unit off hold select, rotate the control dial to rear/sub, switch it to REAR-OUT as that is for a amp, SUB-OUT is directly to a sub. See which one works.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

I called crunch tech this morning and he was able to help me adjust settings on the amplifier.

Now I just have to build that box though

Does anyone know if you need a divider wall for a double box? (like a wall between the two chambers .. one for each sub?)

There is two schools of thought on that. One is that you should divide them because the output is more predictable i.e. you can build each side to the exact specs that the sub manufacturer recommends or based on T/S parameters. The second school of thought is to not divide them and let the subs "load" off each other giving you more output. I have done it both ways with excellent results but if you got the extra time and patients separating them is the more accepted way to do it.
