Affordable Amp for Alpine Type R 12''

Hey guys,

I am short on money and I was wondering what a good amp would be for a single alpine type R 12''. I am not going to use this amp for any speakers and I am only using it for this subwoofer. I'm assuming that this means that it should be a mono amp? I am not looking into an amp that's all flashy. I simply want it to be able to power a single Type R 12'' at its full capacity.

The Kenwood 9104d will give you about 600 watts or so @ 2 ohms and usually runs about $180 plus shipping new. The 8104d can be had for a little cheaper, but I don't trust Kenwood's 500 watts @ 2 ohm rating on that one.

its a 4 channel but we have used it on 2 jl12w6 subs and it screamed. it will give you 800 rms to the sub bridged at 4 ohms

The 9104D will NEVER give you 900 watts RMS @ 2 ohms! Don't believe me? **CLICK HERE** It is CEA 2006 rated at 4 ohms only! The other numbers provided for 2 and 1 ohms are Kenwood's ISBL ratings based on "engineering estimates".

ETA: On the other hand, the amp you posted isn't a bad option but it may be too much power for a single 12" Type R if the op is going to one one channel bridged to each voice coil.

i agree on the KW but I was just showing what they say. Personally I wouldnt use a KW amp. that crunch can be detuned on the gain tho. and if his enclosure is really good the sub will take 800
